“This is the day that the Lord has made; let us rejoice and be glad in it” (Psalm 118:24). As Christians, we face challenges in life, some of which are common to others. However, too many Christians have little or no joy in their lives. It is important to remember that the joy of the Lord is our strength (Neh. 8:10) and you can have more joy in your life.
Joy is a fruit of the spirit and we always have the Holy Spirit of Almighty God within us. When God created man He breathed his breath into him and man became a living soul (Gen. 2:7). God is never far from us because he lives within us in the form of his Holy Spirit (1 Cor. 6:19), yet transcends us (Job 33:12). Although everyone experiences joy, as Christians, when we live consciously with God, trusting, loving, obeying, and praising him, joy ripens within us and we experience it in the form of an emotion that can range from contentment to euphoria. Here are some of the reasons why:
- You will remember that God knows our every thought (Psalm 139) and he shares our experiences by virtual of the fact that his Holy Spirit lives within us.
- You will remember that God is omnipotent and there is nothing too hard for him to do (Matt. 19:26).
- You will remember that “God is our refuge and help, a very present help in the time of trouble” (Psalm 46:1). He can help you with solutions to your problems.
- You will know that “All things work together for good for those who love God, to those who are called according to his purpose” (Rom. 8:28).
- You will refuse to worry (Matt. 6:34) as you communicate with God more often and trust him more.
- You will make Jesus, who is one with God, your best friend; he is the best friend we can ever have (John 10:30 & 15:15).
- You will rejoice in the Lord always (Phil. 4:4) and enjoy your life to the max with him every day.
